Seems like that would've been fine to me. There's the whole 'reblog vs repost' thing, but it doesn't sound like that's what you were doing, aka, reposting to make it look like your GIF. I'm sorry that person's reaction hurt you. FWIW, I think they were wrong. And also a jerk.
